Millennial Is Very Requested To Help Succeed In 2019 Election
Channel Rakyat.Approaching the implementation of the 2019 election the millennial voter segment continues to be an idol. Not only are the numbers currently considered by the majority voters but also considered as the most rational voters in making choices. This was conveyed by a Political observer from the Indonesia Public Institute (IPI), Karyono Wibowo in a discussion on millennial politics, in Cikini, Jakarta, Friday (11/23).
Because Karyono reminded all contestants who competed in the upcoming elections to put forward ideas that could be accepted by millennials rather than imitating a militarized style. According to him, what is more influential to be chosen millennial is how candidates answer military needs.
"I observed that before the contestation of many sudden people millennial, the millennial generation is not a passive generation, so when there are candidates who only match the millennial style, that is not necessarily the case," said Karyono.
In response, Nurdin, Jakarta DKI Commissioner General Election Commission (KPU) said that millennials must also play an active role in the success of the election by becoming part of the organizers. "So it is not only a spectator, but active participation is needed. In terms of the election organizers, from the KPU to the Election Supervisory Board, they will go down," Nurdin said.
The same thing was conveyed by DKI Jakarta Bawaslu member Burhanuddin Thomme. He also hopes that millennials can be active in electoral oversight to prevent election violations.
"The election organizers, especially us in Bawaslu, are related to millennial, which means that it is important for us to be involved. In our supervision we have a name for participatory supervisors involving millennials through various activities," explained Burhanuddin.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Jakarta PMII PKC, Daud Gerung, regretted that political parties which until now still make the military only vote getters and do not conduct good political education. He hopes that in the remaining time the national political education process must also be echoed by the election contestants.
"All contestants should not only vote getter on millennial voters, but also must encourage national political education, especially in maintaining unity," said David Gerung.
